Duo Processor T9550 Vs. Duo Processor T9600

These are the hearts of computers across the world.

The Core 2 Duo line of processors was a huge success for both desktop and laptop computers. Two models of mobile processors, the T9550 and T9600, are high-end laptop processors that are commonplace in gaming laptops. While the product numbers may seem similar, the T9550 is more cost-efficient and is a little easier on a laptop's battery while the T9600 is more powerful and will be able to run more advanced programs. To figure out which one is right for you is a matter of personal preference and what you're looking for in a laptop processor.

  1. CPU Speed

    • The most obvious difference between the two processors is the actual CPU speed. This is the most essential factor in how fast a processor operates, which controls how fast the computer functions. The T9550 operates at 2.66 GHz, while the T9600 runs at a slightly faster 2.80 GHz.

    Front Side Bus Speeds

    • The two processors share many traits. One of these is the FSB, or front side bus. This determines how fast the processor and memory can operate in unison. Both the T9550 and T9600 run at 1066 MHz.

    Multipliers

    • The multiplier is the core processor speed divided by the FSB speed. This multiplier is a required statistic for the motherboard, but is normally not important to end users unless they are attempting to overclock their computers. The T9550 has a multiplier of x10, while the T9600 has a multiplier of x10.5.

    Memory Cache

    • A processor's cache is essentially the processor's onboard RAM. It helps the processor and RAM work together to process information quickly, and the more cache memory the better. The T9550 has 6MB of L2 cache memory, as does the T9600. However, the T9600's cache operates more quickly than the T9550's, with both running at the same speed as their core processors.

    Voltages

    • The VID voltage is a rough determination of how much electricity a processor consumes while in operation, though other factors and figures apply. Higher numbers often mean more power and less computer life in a laptop. The T9550 and T9600 both have a minimum range of 1.050v (volts). however, the T9550 has a higher maximum range at 1.212v, compared to the T9600's 1.162v.
