Sure, rose quartz is turning up just about everywhere these days, infused into beauty and personal care products, facial rollers and gua sha tools, found within water bottles, in jewelry, or carried as a stone. Yet, there’s a lesser-known but equally if not more powerful healing pink gemstone: Pink jade

Thought to “bless everyone it touches” jade is one of the most widely recognized and powerful crystal gemstones. Pink jade or jadeite, a mineral of sodium and silicate of aluminum, like all other forms of jade, is considered to be a healing stone that has the ability to eliminate toxins from the body; many believe simply holding it has a tremendous effect on the nervous system.

The origins of pink jade

According to Athena Perrakis author of Crystal Lore, Legends & Myths, pink jadeite was imported from Burma to China in the 1800s, where it became a favorite amongst the wealthy members of the Qing Dynasty. Jade has played a huge role in the history of the Chinese empire, comparable to that of gold or diamonds in the Western world.

“It’s been used in furniture, jewelry, and even to decorate the graves of the imperial family. This gem is a stone of growth; it speeds up anything that has become stagnant,” explains Perrakis. She recommends placing a piece in your garden or purse as a way to stimulate the growth of plants and finances.

Judy Hall, author of The Crystal Seer and The Crystal Bible, adds that jade was considered the most precious gem to the Chinese. Jade holds within it the five great virtues (wisdom, justice, modesty, courage, and purity) as well as five pillars of happiness (wealth, old age, health, natural death, and love of virtue). The Aztecs also prized jade for its healing properties, believing the stone cured kidney, liver, spleen, and adrenal diseases and disorders.

Think pink for love & harmony

“Pink jade also holds especially powerful magic in the realm of love. It spurs the expansion, growth and deepening of relationships, stimulates the heart space, and is a powerful tool for couples to work with in meditation together,” says Perrakis.

Hall’s The Crystal Seer notes that the stone is thought to signify wisdom, tranquility, good fortune and protection. It may even aid in meditation and stress release. The book recommends placing pink jade on the forehead or underneath a pillow to induce insightful dreams; the stone can also help understand the meanings behind these insightful dreams.

Use it to purify & cleanse

All forms of jade, including pink jade, are thought to be cleansing cure-alls, used to treat and heal a multitude of ailments. Pink jade can be used to work on a number of issues, including prolonging life, preventing fatigue, healing asthma and blood diseases, detoxifying the kidneys and adrenals, relaxing muscles, encouraging the healing of stitches or abrasions, and its overall healing properties.

Place and hold a piece of pink jade over your solar plexus (the upper part of the belly, where your diaphragm rests) for a few minutes each day. Hall explains that this practice works to stabilize your psyche and emotions, leading to living life healthy and harmoniously.
