Keeping a teenage driver safe is one of the biggest worries of parents everywhere when buying a new car or a used car. However, most parents don't mind spending a little extra money per month to ensure their teen is safe behind the wheel.

Volkswagen is a teen and parent favorite, as they are attractive automobiles yet consistently safe according to the IIHS and the federal government's NHTSA. German-designed, Volkswagens have heavy frames which can survive collisions and are loaded with airbags in the front, sides and back. The small bucket seats in both the Jetta and Passat models keep passengers from bouncing around during a collision, which is how many serious injuries occur during an accident.
