Job Corps is a free training and education facility that helps young people not only earn a high school diploma or GED, but also learn a trade. They can learn skills in the medical field, culinary arts, mechanics as well as other vocations. While attending Job Corps, students may have their shelter provided for them, as well as meals and stipends to assist with living expenses. Job Corps is funded by the government offered through Department of Labor.

  1. Location

    • There are more than 123 Job Corps locations nationwide, which includes the District of Columbia and Puerto Rico. You will need to know what location you are interested in attending. Typically, you must attend a Job Corps center that is closest to your location. Visit the Job Corps website to speak to an admissions officer closest to you.

    Age requirement

    • The age requirement to join Job Corps is 16 through 24. If you are already considering joining Job Corps but you are not quite 16, you can also speak with admissions representative for information until you reach your 16th birthday.

    Citizenship

    • Those interested in joining Job Corps must also be U.S. citizens or legal residents because the course is funded by a government-backed agency.
