What do mood ring colors symbolize?

Mood rings have stones that change color according to the wearer's body temperature, thus indicating their "mood." The ring works because the stone is filled with a thermochromic liquid crystal. This liquid is sensitive, and the molecules move around based on the temperature of the wearer's skin. This change in position results in a change in the light that is absorbed. This changes in the color of the stone. Each color is said to represent a different mood for the wearer. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Black and Gray

    • If the color on your mood ring is showing up as black or gray, it could be because you're feeling tense, nervous, overworked or even harassed. A long, hard day at work could be the culprit. Tension and nervousness may cause sweating and after sweating, your body cools down. Cooler temperatures will show up as darker colors on a mood ring. Black is also the default color of the mood ring when it is not being worn, due to the cold temperature or absence of temperature.

    Amber

    • An amber color on a mood ring represents mixed emotions or a feeling of being unsettled. If you're confused about a relationship or if it feels like your intuition is trying to tell you something, the color amber may appear on your mood ring.

    Green and Blue Green

    • Green is one of the most common colors found on a mood ring. The color indicates a stable mood, meaning that the wearer is not under great stress. Blue green indicates that the wearer is feeling relaxed and at ease.

    Blue and Dark Blue

    • Blue represents a calmness, a feeling of being "chill" and collected. If you're relaxed and at ease, blue may show up on your mood ring. A darker blue, even an indigo represents happy, love, romance and passion. If you're psyched about a new relationship or if you're crazy-in-love, it may show up as a darker blue on your ring.

    Yellow

    • The color yellow tends to show up on a mood ring when one is involved in creative projects like painting, for example. Yellow represents imagination and wonder. Yellow is not seen very often on mood rings.

    Red or Dark Red

    • Red is usually associated with passion, but in the case of a mood ring, it represents excitement, energy and adventurous attitudes. Dark or blood red, on the other hand, represents anger and hatred.

    Rare Colors

    • There are some colors that rarely show up on a mood ring, but they're not impossible to see. White is one of those colors. White represents frustration and confusion. Bronze is yet another rare color, meaning jitters, anticipation and restless thoughts. If pink ever appears on your mood ring, consider yourself special, as pink is rarely seen on mood rings. The color pink means that you are fearing something or uncertain of something. Purple represents sensuality and clarity.
