What Is Adobe Reader Speed Launcher?
Adobe Reader Speed Launcher is a small program that comes bundled with Adobe Reader Software and is used to shorten the time needed to launch the Adobe Reader application. The Adobe Reader application is a free application used to view and edit PDF files.

Installation
-
When you install Adobe Reader, a free PDF viewing and editing application, a program called Adobe Reader Speed Launcher is automatically installed in your Common Start-up Group on your Windows PC (program not available for Mac OSX).
Program Runtime
-
Located in the Common Start-Up Folder, the Adobe Reader Speed Launcher is an application that automatically starts upon log-in or start-up of your Windows PC. It runs only once at start-up or log-in and quickly opens and closes all the files Adobe Reader will use when it starts. This is done so the files are already pre-included in your system's memory when you choose to use the Adobe Reader application.
-
Version History
-
Adobe Speed Launcher was introduced to Abobe Reader, Acrobat and Acrobat 3D when Reader and Acrobat were in Version 7.0. It has been included ever since with these applications as they became more robust and took longer to open in later versions.
Disabling the Program
-
Disabling the Adobe Speed Launcher application is as easy as navigating to your 'Start-up' folder and moving the Speed Launcher application to the trash.
Necessity of Program
-
Although this program is good for Adobe Reader speed purposes, it can slow down your log-in start-up times. If you don't use Adobe Reader on a regular basis, and you feel it's taking too long for your computer to start-up, it's recommended that you disable this application.
