Frigidaire Dishwasher Problems

Many Frigidaire dishwasher problems can be solved without a repair technician.

Frigidaire is one of the most recognized names in kitchen appliances. But over the years, the brand is being increasingly associated with complaints. Often, consumers are unaware of how much of the problem they themselves have caused. Since the appliance uses water, ethical repair professionals are willing to share what owners can do to alleviate many problems themselves. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Investing in a Frigidire Dishwasher

    • According to Frigidaire.com, prices for dishwashers can range anywhere from $250 to $800. When a homeowner makes an outlay of this much cash, she can reasonably expect her appliance to work. So when there is a problem of any sort, it's natural to be upset and unwilling to pay for repairs. The good news is that most operational problems are easy to fix yourself.

    Read the Owner's Manual

    • Reading the owner's manual first will help most people avoid many common headaches in the first place. All too often, some small thing a new owner has done or not done is the source of the problem.

    Is It Level?

    • According to DIYnot.com, the dishwasher needs to be on a firm, level surface and free of grease, polish or debris. If the floor is not level, then make adjustments to the adjustable feet on the front of the dishwasher until it sits level.

    Electrical Issues

    • If the program you selected isn't starting like it should, check a few things before calling out an expensive technician: Are your fuses good? Are the circuit breakers flipped on? Did the door close properly? Listen for the "click."

    Drainage

    • The minimum height for a drain hose to be installed is 1 foot, up to a maximum of 3 feet. Anything over 3 feet and the pump may not be able to push the water enough. Anything under 1 foot and there may not be enough vacuum to pull the water out.

    Last Resort

    • Sometimes, even when you do everything correctly, problems still occur. These could be due to manufacturing, assembly and even delivery errors. Make sure your warranty information is filled out and registered with the company as soon as possible. Having paperwork squared away can save you a good amount of money in repairs. Unfortunately, nothing can save owners from the aggravation of malfunctioning equipment.
