What Equipment Is Used to Move Mattresses Between Hotel Rooms?
Moving mattresses between hotel rooms can pose some significant challenges. Because of the size and weight of a mattress, special equipment must be used to make transport safe and efficient for the movers. Mattress equipment can be purchased from a hardware store or rented from a moving company.

Hand Trucks
-
Hand trucks are one of the most effective pieces of equipment for moving mattresses between hotel rooms. One of these can carry up to 600 pounds. A hand truck has a large enough base to support the size and weight of a mattress, allowing for safe, easy transport.
Furniture Dollies
-
Furniture dollies, also called mover's dollies, can be used to move the large queen and king-size mattresses that are common in hotels. These rectangular dollies are built to transport the size and weight of the mattress, making it efficient for movers to pull without injuring their backs. Most furniture dollies are made out of metal or wood and are capable of reducing a mover's load by 50 percent.

Mattress Slings
-
Mattress slings, or mattress straps, make moving mattresses between hotel rooms safer and more efficient when transport on stairwells is involved. These slings offer grip protection and keep the movers from bending incorrectly, reducing the risk of back injury or muscle strain. Mattress slings are easy to apply and can distribute the weight of a mattress equally between two movers.
Tie-Downs
-
There are several types of ropes and tie-downs that will keep a mattress from moving out of place on a carrier. Truck cargo nets, which can be found at most moving-equipment shops, don't require any tools to install. They are large enough to cover large, wide hotel mattresses.
Outrigger cords are another form of tie downs that have adjustable hooks for varying mattress sizes. Ratchet tie-downs, elastic straps, bungee cords and nylon twine are other types of support equipment helpful in tying down large mattress for moving.
Mattress Bags
-
Mattress bags keep mattresses clean as they are being moved between hotel rooms. These bags are made out of heavy-grade polyethylene material and act as a sturdy shield, protecting the mattress from dirt, soil or spills. Mattress bags can fit all mattress sizes.
