What Is an eBlast?

EBlasts aim to send messages with spamming.

Emails are much cheaper and easier than mailing traditional print ads. However, getting your message out to a large number of people still poses a significant logistical problem. One option is to send an eBlast using software, such as that created by New Team Software. EBlasts are much less irritating than spamming and are more compliant with anti-spam laws.

  1. Identification

    • An eBlast is like an electronic version of direct mail marketing. Emails and contact lists are tailored and sent according to the client's preferences, reports New Team Software. EBlast contains pre-formatted messages and a built-in contact list so you do not have to create advertisements from scratch. After choosing a template all you need to do is click the send button.

    Misconceptions

    • An eBlast sounds like spam, but differs quite a bit. Almost all spam is unwanted, unfiltered and offers no way for the recipient to request the mailer to stop sending their messages. EBlasts are targeted, use email headings that do not deceive about the message's true intentions and allows individuals to unsubscribe from the EBlast's contact list.

    Considerations

    • Although an eBlast is not specifically intended to deliver spam email, people can use the program to send unsolicited email. However, an EBlast user can still violate the CAN SPAM Act of 2004--which severely restricts how mass email marketers can send their promotional messages--by gathering email addresses, "known as email harvesting" and spoofing their identity.

    Function

    • You can use an eBlast for just about any function that requires frequently sending out electronic messages to people. This includes company newsletter and reminders about meetings, but most people send eBlasts to keep a brand name fresh in the mind of the consumer. Also, sending out targeted emails are much cheaper than print advertisements and television ads.

    Tips

    • New Team Software offers some tips that help you comply with spam regulations and produce a more reputable message. EBlasts have a tag available that you should include with every email; users can simply click unsubscribe to remove their email address from your contact list. Always describe the email contents in the header as accurately as possible so they do not end up in spam folders.
