Quercetin Bromelain Side Effects

Quercetin Bromelain is a natural medication that helps in the body's healing process and aids in reducing inflammation after injury or a surgical procedure. The medication works by inhibiting the production of prostaglandins that are responsible for the inflammation process that takes place in the body and by supporting the production of anti-inflammatory prostaglandins. As is the case with most medications, there are a number of side effects that can come as a result of use.

  1. Common Side Effects

    • As mentioned, there are a number of side effects that can come as a result of using Quercetin Bromelain. These side effects include upset stomach, nausea, diarrhea, headache, unusual and unpleasant tastes in the mouth, vomiting and loss of appetite. While these are considered the most common side effects associated with using this supplement, they only affect a small amount of users.

    Severe Side Effects

    • Unfortunately, there are also a number of severe side effects associated with using this medication. Some of these side effects include allergic reaction, difficulty breathing, skin rash, hives, tightening of the chest, difficulty swallowing and swelling of the mouth, lips, tongue and throat. These side effects are also very rare and do not affect a large amount of users.

    Important Safety Information

    • Quercetin Bromelain has been known to cause increased dizziness and drowsiness in some users and it is strongly recommended that users do not operate any type of machinery (including automobiles) while taking the medication. Because this medication is usually administered after serious injury or a surgical procedure, it is recommended to avoid any type of strenuous activity throughout the course of treatment.

    Use

    • Always use Quercetin Bromelain exactly as it was prescribed by the doctor and never in dosages larger than what has been recommended on the label. The medication is administered in capsule form and should start being taken three days prior to a surgical procedure and should continue until swelling has gone away. Quercetin Bromelain should be taken three times per day in dosages of two capsules and should always be taken with a full glass of water and on an empty stomach (preferably between meals).

    Warning

    • If you experience any of the above side effects, contact your physician immediately.

If an overdose is suspected, contact the poison control center at (800) 222-1222 and head directly to the nearest emergency room.

Quercetin Bromelain is meant for use as an anti-inflammatory medication only and should never be used recreationally or without a doctor's consent.
