Microsoft Live is a set of online services provided by Microsoft and integrated with the Windows operating system. Problems include the inability to log-in right away, as well as the disappearance of stored files and contacts in the web application. Additionally, a recent security breach compromised 30,000 Hotmail accounts, allowing hackers to send out e-mails with several spam links to contacts listed in their address books. Live is also prone to worms which allow hackers access to the affected accounts and computers.

The Microsoft network announced in 2008 that login problems with Live had been resolved--including database glitches wherein saved files and other items are stored. There are, however, still instances when login problems occur intermittently, but according to the company, the longstanding issue has nothing to do with the Windows Server and is only due to a one-time device failure. Microsoft has also created the Microsoft Malicious Software Removal Tool and Windows Live Safety Scanner to help protect your account and computer, as well as remove any pre-existing worms.
