Swivel Sweeper Vs. Glide Sweeper
Since 1876 when the carpet sweeper was invented, people have sought newer and better ways to clean carpets and rugs. Two of the more recent and popular products for this task are the Swivel Sweeper and the Glide Sweeper. Both allow you to clean floors with ease, including behind, around and under furniture. The differences in the two products are not that evident. Does this Spark an idea?

Function
-
Ideafinder.com describes the early carpet sweeper as "a device used to clean rugs and floors, consisting of a metal or plastic box equipped with rotating brushes and pushed by means of a long handle." Though more sophisticated than the definition describes, the Swivel Sweeper and Glide Sweeper are still just carpet sweepers. They're designed for using between regular vacuuming jobs. They work best on small messes and spills that occur on rugs, carpets, wooden floors and tile floors.
Features
-
Both the Swivel Sweeper and the Glide Sweeper contain four rotating brushes that pick up dirt from four sides. They also both contain a 360-degree swivel head. This helps the sweeper easily maneuver around furniture and different objects. The sweepers are cordless, so another feature they have in common is the 7.2 volt rechargeable battery.

Identification
-
Both products advertise how easy and effortlessly they move across the floor. Swivel Sweeper attributes this to its New Glide Technology, while Glide Sweeper gives the credit to its use of Quad Brush Technology. The Swivel Sweeper has improved on its original model and created the Swivel Sweeper G2, which also contains a touchless dirt tray. The Glide Sweeper can generally be purchased between $20 and $30. The Swivel Sweeper is a few dollars more, so it usually provides the option of splitting the cost of $39.98 into two payments.
Consideration
-
When replacing the 7.2-volt rechargeable battery, there are dealers who actually carry the original type of battery that came with the Swivel Sweeper (See Resources). Some consumers may choose to locate the original battery, however this is not mandatory. The Glide Sweeper and The Swivel sweeper are compatible with other brands of the 7.2-volt battery. Durecell, Energizer and Dewalt are among the brands that can be substituted. Allowing the battery to drain completely will be an inconvenience because it takes approximately six to eight hours to fully recharge.
Solution
-
To prevent power shortages at inopportune times, the batteries for The Swivel and The Glide Sweeper should be kept charged. It is better to replenish the power supply as it drains, rather than allowing it to run completely down before charging. In order to get the best performance from both the Swivel Sweeper and the Glide Sweeper, recognize the limitations of these products. To ensure the rotating brushes operate properly, don't try to pick up large or bulky objects or excessive hair. It is also imperative to regularly empty the trays that catch all the dirt, dust and debris.
