Internet advertising resources are growing.

As an advertising medium, the Internet is growing by leaps and bounds each month, bolstered by new technologies that make it easier for businesses to sell in cyberspace. With online solutions a growing trend, the top 50 Internet advertisers spent more than $400 million in media advertisements in August 2009 alone, says ClickZ, an Internet marketing research site.

    Geotargeting

  1. An Internet media advertising strategy can geotarget a certain region of the world, drilling down to specific cities and postal codes. Websites like Google Adwords, BidVertiser, and Facebook, for example, offer pay-per-click (PPC) advertising. With geotargeting, advertisers can zero-in on a specific region of the world (and in Facebook's case a particular demographic as well) so that more potential customers will view an ad, thus increasing advertising efficiency.
  2. Viral Messages

  3. Today's flood of social media websites has made it easier for a company to get its brand out instantly and virally, its message self-reproducing like a human virus. Businesses can leverage Twitter's real-time messages or connect with consumers on Facebook MySpace, and even YouTube to get in front of their customers with their sales or brand messages. In the long run, an Internet strategy that includes social media planning only makes sense for successful businesses.
  4. Target Audience

  5. Advertisers are able to find where their target audience hangs out on the Internet. Banner ads on forums and message boards devoted to a specific subject, placement on news websites and advertising blocks on blogs and social-media websites can be included in media planning so that businesses go where their customers are.
  6. Search Engine Optimization

  7. Search engine optimization (SEO) is an important tool by which advertisers and companies draw targeted customers to their websites. An SEO strategy that achieves a top spot in search engine results on Google, Yahoo and Bing is crucial to receiving organic traffic and visitors. This is also a great way to increase targeted traffic; if you're a shoe retailer selling a special kind of shoe, you can optimize your website and ads for certain key search terms that create relevancy for your website, thereby bolstering your standing in the search engines.
  8. Internet Marketing Consultancy

  9. Media planning for advertisers has created an opportunity for Internet marketing consultants. Companies that want expert help planning their online media advertising strategies can use consultants who are knowledgeable about the Internet, social-media websites and proper search-engine marketing techniques. Internet marketing consultants have the potential to increase profitability and visibility for a business, ultimately lowering advertising costs.
