Japanese Hair Loss Herbal Treatment

Hair loss is a widespread condition that affects one-third of the human population worldwide. Over the decades many innovations to prevent and reverse hair loss have solicited interest from victims of this condition. Over-the-counter topical ointments and prescription pills dominate the medical options for hair-loss treatment. But Japanese researchers have made strides in alternative therapies that promise greater success than these other treatments. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Green Tea

    • One byproduct of Japanese research is the discovery that ingredients in green tea reduce testosterone. For women, this is a beneficial process that affects hair loss, among other conditions. Green tea increases the concentration of globulin in the blood, which suppresses testosterone and manipulates hormonal processes that cause hair loss. Genetic predispositions towards balding may also be reversed by this chemical reaction.

    Grape Seed Extract

    • The Japanese first discovered the potential of plant compounds to combat hair loss after extensive testing on a variety of substances. Grape seed extract was the first fruit-based compound to demonstrate potential. By examining the direct effect of the extract on actual hair growth, results using grape seed revealed greater control over hair loss than common over-the-counter medications.

    Apple Extract

    • After success with grape seed, Japanese researchers extended their study of fruit compounds. Apple extract proved more effective than grape seed, with double the hair growth compared to popular hair-loss medications. Many herbal treatments for hair loss are based on apple polyphenols as a result of this research.

    Forskolin

    • The plant compound forskolin, a product of the tropical Indian coleus plant, is used in a variety of medical fields for a diverse range of health conditions. Japanese scientists were first to discover its role in hair loss treatment. Forskolin enhances the hair growth stimulated by other plant compounds, including grape seed and apple extract. Working in combination with these other substances, hair growth rates of 300 percent are possible.

    Comparison

    • Traditional hair loss medications work by increasing blood flow to hair follicles. This can indirectly improve follicle function and initiate hair growth. Often this process carries an initial side effect where the follicles actually shed some hair prior to new growth. Plant compounds instead work directly on the follicle to activate its hair growth process, and do not create any known side effects.
