Definition of Atrium Windows

Atrium Windows--Atrium Companies Inc.--is a window- and door-manufacturing company, North America's largest manufacturer of vinyl and aluminum windows and doors. The company supplies home-improvement centers and lumber yards with its window and patio door products, and it has a direct clientele of designers, builders, architects and retailers.

  1. Identification

    • The Atrium name suggests appreciating the natural beauty of the outdoors through the transparency of glass windows. These energy-efficient windows are sealed to prevent drafts, and the Atrium double- or triple-paned glass provides layers of air or gas insulation.

    Options

    • Atrium Windows manufactures a large selection of vinyl and aluminum windows of both standard and custom sizes. Options include single- and double-hung windows, casement and slider windows, awning and hopper windows, picture windows, bow windows, bay windows and garden windows, and special design windows for custom orders.

    Doors

    • Atrium Windows' patio doors are produced in three different styles: entry door, sliding patio door and side-hinged patio door. The entry door is a standard open-and-close door hung with hinges attached to the door frame. The sliding patio door opens and closes by sliding the door along its track, and the hinged patio door offers the look of the sliding patio with the hinging of the entry-door style.

    Green Manufacturing

    • Atrium Windows produces Energy Star-rated windows. The company performs its own processing of new and recycled lead-free vinyl for their windows, reducing both the amount of waste generated and the release of harmful gases into the atmosphere. The bulk of the company's glass product comes from recycled and reclaimed glass.

    Locations

    • Atrium Windows' headquarters is located at 3890 W. Northwest Highway in Dallas, with additional locations around the country. Atrium-Southwest, established in 1989, is located in Anaheim, California. Atrium-Colorado, in Denver, opened its doors in 1989, and Atrium-Washington, in Union Gap, opened in 1984. Atrium-Arizona has been in operation since 1960 and Superior Engineered Products serves the Ontario, California, area.

The company's central locations include Atrium-Texas, established in 1960, Champion Windows and H-R Windows, all located in Texas. The eastern locations are Atrium-North Carolina, established in 1946 in the town of Welcome, and Thermal Industries, located in Pittsburgh.
