Sebagh First Experience Vs. Meaningful Beauty
The quest for ageless beauty is itself ageless. Women spend great amounts of time and money to stop and turn back the clock when it comes to their looks. For the past 30 years, Dr. Jean-Louis Sebagh has fought alongside women all over the world to help them in their quest. Besides pioneering the use of Botox in cosmetic procedures in Europe, he is the driving force behind two very different skin care lines: Sebagh's First Experience and Meaningful Beauty. Does this Spark an idea?

Meaningful Beauty
-
Meaningful Beauty was launched in 1995 as a cooperative venture between Sebagh and supermodel Cindy Crawford. According to their story, Crawford was a client of Sebagh in Paris, but wanted to be able to take home and use the products he gave her while in Los Angeles. However, the formulations were not stable enough for that kind of travel. Together, they set out to create a stable formula and to be able to sell it at a cost that was affordable to most women.

History
-
Using an extract from a rare French melon, they succeeded in creating a stable formula and put together a skin care line, then decided to market it through telemarketing giant Guthy-Renker. Thus, Meaningful Beauty was born. It proved to be a successful combination, generating millions of dollars in sales over the last decade.
Sebagh's First Experience
-
In 2004, Sebagh launched his own self-named skin care line, whose "introductory set" is called First Experience. It is sold exclusively through selected retailers worldwide, like Bliss and Barney's in the United States, and is not available direct from TV or the Internet. The line is not based on any one extract or active ingredient; active ingredients vary from product to product. It is an extension of his belief that the best results in anti-aging come from a combination of a healthy lifestyle, procedures such as Botox or Fraxel lasers and good skin care.
Differences
-
Meaningful Beauty is a line of only seven products geared to all skin types and are manufactured in the United States. The cost is in line with more expensive drugstore products. Sebagh's private line offers an extensive range of products geared to different skin types and problems, and are manufactured in France. Items in the line typically cost over $100 each, making the cost out of range for most women.
Considerations
-
Both product lines have received mixed reviews, with some raving about the product and others that are not so enthusiastic. Both have gotten their fair share of complaints due to allergic reactions and side effects, even when used as directed. Meaningful Beauty has been the target of several complaint websites due to the automatic payment programs and difficulty of returning the product. The complaints are more customer service oriented than about the product.
