Chevrolet has expanded its trucks' body styles, engines, transmissions, options, payloads and towing capacities. The 2010 Chevy Silverado pickup truck comes in the half-ton 1500, three-quarter-ton 2500 and 1-ton 3500, with standard, extended and crew cab body styles.

Engines

The Chevy truck can be equipped with one of four fuel-injected engines. These include a 195-horsepower, 4.3-liter V-6; a 302-horsepower, 4.8-liter V-8; a 315-horsepower, 5.3-liter V-8; and a 376-horsepower, 6.2-liter V-8.
Gas Mileage

The Silverado's 4.3-liter engine coupled with a four-speed automatic transmission achieves 15 miles per gallon in the city and 20 mpg on the highway. The 4.8-liter V-8 with the same transmission gets 14 mpg city and 19 mpg highway. The 5.3-liter V-8 engine matched with a six-speed transmission gets 15 mpg city and 21 mpg highway, while the 6.2-liter V-8 gets 13 mpg and 19 mpg, respectively.

The standard long-bed Silverado 1500 has a 133.5-inch wheelbase and measures 224.5 inches long, 73.8 inches tall and 80 inches wide.

The standard Silverado 1500 has a curb weight of 4,582 lbs., with a 1,818-lb. payload and 5,100-lb. towing capacity. The 6-liter V-8 with a six-speed transmission can increase towing capacity up to 10,700 lbs.

The cargo box comes in lengths of 5.8 feet to 8 feet. The box is 62.4 inches wide, which narrows at the wheel arches to 50.6 inches. The box is 21 inches tall.
