Long-Term Side Effects of Omeprazole
Omeprazole, also known as Prilosec, is a medication used in the treatment of internal problems of the stomach, esophagus and intestines. The medication is part of a group of drugs called proton pump inhibitors that suppress certain chemicals in the stomach and alleviates many of the symptoms associated with stomach and intestinal problems. As is the case with most medications, there are a number of long-term side effects associated with use.

Some of these side effects include depression, hallucinations, sudden confusion, irregular heartbeat, signs of liver damage, severe allergic reaction and extreme stomach pain. While these are considered the most common long-term side effects associated with using Omeprazole, they only affect a small number of users.
