Health Benefits of Fresh Pineapple Juice

Pineapples are full of vitamins and minerals that the body needs. Although processed pineapple juice is widely available in the market, fresh pineapple juice is healthier because processed juices contain large volumes of sugar, preservatives and other ingredients.

  1. Features

    • Fresh pineapple juice contains manganese, fiber, and vitamins B1, B2, B3, B5 and B6. Like orange juice, pineapple juice is rich in vitamin C and bromelain. It is also low in cholesterol and fat.

    Significance

    • Young people may drink pineapple juice to regulate the growth of bones, while older individuals can make their bones even stronger by drinking a glass each day. In fact, having a single cup of this fresh juice each day already fulfills around 73 percent of the body's manganese requirement.

    Medicinal Benefits

    • According to a 2005 publication entitled "Rawsome! Maximizing Health, Energy, and Culinary Delight With the Raw Foods Diet" by Brigitte Mars, pineapple is used to treat various ailments including bronchitis, arthritis, hypertension, dyspepsia, diphtheria, constipation, blood clots, indigestion, edema, sinusitis, excess menses, goiter, multiple sclerosis, sunstroke, sore throat, tumors and dyspepsia.

Vitamin C and bromelain both contribute to treating cough and colds. Bromelain can also help reduce the swelling caused by sore throat and gout. Fresh pineapple juice is cholesterol free and has other micronutrients that prevent diseases like strokes, heart problems and various cancers.

    Other Benefits

    • Surprisingly, pineapple juice is a helpful drink for bodybuilders because the bromelain that it contains helps treat sore muscles. It can also treat joint pains because it reduces blood clotting, slightly providing some extra relief. Bodybuilders who get worn out from heavy workouts can take advantage of the vitamin C that is present in pineapple juice, which allows muscle pains to heal much quicker. Pineapple juice is a good source of light relief from conditions like constipation, motion sickness and nausea.

    Considerations

    • As long as the pineapple juice is raw and unpasteurized, you can have a glass or two every day to keep your digestive tract healthy. This works very well when combined with water. If you are suffering from serious digestive conditions, however, seek medical consultation before using fresh pineapple juice as a natural remedy.

    Warning

    • Because fresh pineapple juice is very sweet, people with diabetes should take caution when drinking excessive amounts. The best way for them to enjoy pineapple juice is to dilute it with water to minimize the sweetness.

Like orange juice, fresh pineapple juice can dehydrate the body. You should therefore drink a glass of water for every glass of pineapple juice you drink.
