  2. Considerations

  3. Salary ranges for insurance customer service representatives vary based on geographical location, education and the type of insurance being represented. Another factor is if the insurance agent holds any sort of licenses.
  4. Entry Level

  5. An entry-level insurance csr can make roughly $25,000 a year. A lower-level yearly salary for an Insurance CDR is around $15,000. Entry-level representatives do work that is very similar to an insurance clerk by being certain all submitted insurance policy paperwork is accurate and complete.
  6. Types of License

  7. Though only a high school diploma is needed to work in this field, a hiring company is usually willing to offer a larger compensation for an insurance customer service representative if he holds a license. A P&C license (property and casualty license) is normally required for insurance reps who are in the auto or home insurance field. Other types of licenses include life, accident and health. These types of licenses can be acquired online or in a class like setting. An insurance representatives salary can increase up to $5,000 a year with proper licensing.
  8. Other Pay Factors

  9. Insurance customer service representatives may sometimes make money on a commission base if they are assisting in the selling of insurance. Commission can differ, but is usually 30 to 50 percent of the insurance sold, depending on the policy. Being bilingual can increase pay.
  10. Hourly pay

  11. Insurance customer service representatives can expect to make $9 to $15 an hour depending on the company. Large companies may pay their representatives more based on the companies' heavy client load.
