White Kidney Bean Extract & Weight Loss

Anyone who has ever waged the battle of the bulge has probably tried grapefruit, bananas, apple cider vinegar and other unusual foods to help them drop excess pounds. But white kidney beans? Dr. Steven Rosenblatt, author of "The Starch Blocker Diet," claims the extract of white kidney beans is the safe, new way to eat the foods you love and still lose weight.

  1. Our Love Affair with Carbs

    • Simply put, many of us struggle with weight gain because food is just too hard to resist. Fresh warm bread, chocolate chip cookies, macaroni and cheese. . .who doesn't get a comforting sense of pleasure from any one of these foods? Trouble arises, however, when we're unable to limit our intake. Over time, extra carbohydrates show up as unsightly rolls of fat around the midsection. What if we could eat our cake and not pay the price in weight gain? Sound too good to be true? Meet white kidney bean extract.

    Neutralize Dietary Carbohydrates

    • Our bodies make an enzyme called alpha amylase to break down and efficiently absorb carbohydrate calories from the foods we eat. Researchers have discovered that a compound in the extract from certain white kidney beans (Phaseolus vulgaris) can prevent carbohydrates from ever being absorbed by neutralizing the alpha amylase enzyme. This action results in much of the carbohydrate content passing from the body as waste. You can enjoy a piece of cake without counting a chunk of the calories.

    Losing Weight is Easier

    • When planning how much weight you can lose with white kidney bean extract, keep two equations in mind: first, remember that one gram of carbohydrate equals four calories; second, one pound equals 3500 calories.

If you block 75 grams of carbohydrates from each of three meals per day, you'll eliminate 900 calories from your diet. A daily deficit of 900 calories represents more than one pound every four days. To drop a sensible two pounds per week, determine how many calories you'll need each day based on your height, weight, age, gender and activity level. If charts advise limiting your intake to 1500 calories, you may be able to eat up to 2400 calories (900 additional calories from carbohydrates) per day and still reach your goal when using white kidney bean extract.

    What to Take

    • White kidney bean extract is generically known as phaseolamin, and manufacturers have trademarked it under various names. One of the most popular of these products is Phase 2, which was the first nutritional ingredient permitted by the FDA to claim, "May reduce the enzymatic digestion of dietary starches." Another white kidney bean extract called Ultimate Carb Control C-120X is extremely potent. Each tiny 2mg tablet can block a whopping 50 to 75mg of carbohydrates. That means you'll need about three tablets per day to block 900 calories of carbohydrates.

    More Benefits

    • Besides losing weight, authors of "The Starch Blocker Diet" relate that you'll be rewarded with fewer food cravings, you'll enjoy an improved mood, and you'll lose more fat while exercising when using white kidney bean extract. You'll also avoid the desire for a nap after a lunch filled with carbohydrates, instead sailing through the afternoon with ambition and energy.
