Adobe Reader Download Problems
Adobe Reader is a common application used for PDFs, or Portable Document Format, on personal and business computers. With the software, users can read, annotate, edit and review documents of various sizes. Adobe Reader is available for download on Adobe.com; however, the download process sometimes fails. Instead of abandoning the download, consider some possible fixes.

History
-
Adobe Reader is a product of Adobe, a company that began as an attempt to transmit digital images and text accurately onto a printed page. The result was PostScript, Adobe's first major product, and photograph and illustration software programs soon followed. Adobe Acrobat, known as Adobe Acrobat Reader, was developed in the early 1990s and now comes installed on almost every new computer. It is an industry standard for reading PDF files.

Versions
-
Adobe Reader is available in various formats. Older versions, such as Reader 6.0 and 7.0, were used on older computer models and provide basic support for PDFs. However, new releases include versions 8.0 and 9.0; for a fee, Adobe Acrobat offers more features than Adobe Reader and increases the functionality of Adobe Reader.
Common Problems
-
A common problem in downloading Adobe Reader is a disruption in the download process. This could be caused by several factors. First, try downloading when there is less activity on the Internet. Download late in the evening or early in the morning for more reliable transmissions. If that doesn't help, check the reliability of your own connection. Consider downloading Adobe Reader from another location, such as download.com. If that does not fix the problem, your Internet connection might be too sporadic to work. Increase disk space as well to make room for Adobe Reader. Otherwise, the download will stop midway and will not finish.
Security Settings
-
Changing your security settings could help Adobe download quicker and more efficiently. If you have any antivirus or anti-malware program, the firewalls could prevent any downloads from getting through. Disable the software or shut it down, and try to start the download again. If problems persist, check the security settings for your Internet browser. You should keep them at default levels to download Adobe Reader; any higher level of security could prevent a download.
Download Manager
-
The download process can be more difficult if Adobe's Download Manager is not handling the file. Search for the application by clicking Start, Programs, Adobe and Download Manager. If it is not listed, install the software by visiting "Adobe Download" in Resources. After installing, use the Download Manager to handle your Adobe download. It should expedite the process and provide increased reliability.
