Dexamethasone Side Effects Dose

Dexamethasone is a steroid that prevents the release of certain substances in the body that can cause inflammation. Dexamethasone is used to treat many conditions such as "allergic disorders, skin conditions, ulcerative colitis, arthritis, lupus, psoriasis, or breathing disorders," according to Drugs.com. There are many side effects associated with this drug, whether it is given in dosages, as an elixir, as an ointment or by drops.

Many of these side effects are mild, but if these symptoms become bothersome or persist, seek medical attention.

Included in these are acne, dry and scaly skin, changes in skin color, redness of the skin, troubles with wounds healing, rash, increase in sweating, hives throughout the body, thinning scalp hair and very thin and fragile skin.
