Tested Products for Hair Growth

If you have thin or thinning hair, you may have been tempted to buy dozens of hair growth products that claim to have been tested, clinically proven, FDA approved or that are highly recommended by a professional source. Chances are that afterward, you were invariably disappointed and lighter in the wallet as a result of your purchase. Hair growth products have been around for literally decades and some of them pass the test for delivering hair growth results.

  1. Tested

    • To say a product is "tested" can mean several different things. For some companies, products are tested on animals for years before testing on humans begins. These human testing procedures can mean anything from controlled shampooing in a lab to randomized customer reviews. For other companies, testing occurs only in a lab, using hair samples and the company's products and measuring the results.

    Product Names

    • The list of product names that have claimed to be tested is long. Many popular shampoo and hair treatment products like Rogaine claim that their products are "clinically tested" for hair growth. Some examples of lesser known products include Provillus, Procerin, Nisim, Avacor, ProFollica, ThymuSkin, Propscar and Propecia.

    Benefits

    • There are several benefits to buying and using hair growth products that have been tested, besides the prospect of them working on your problem. Tested products usually come with a promise that you can be more confident in their brand because of the testing itself. Tested products have the science and results to back up their claims of results. Hair growth products that have been tested also tend to comply with the industry standards of hair products better than those that are not tested. Getting a better deal for your money with tested and proven hair growth products (because good ones are rarely cheap) is another benefit of product testing. And finally, products that aren't tested can wreak havoc on already thin or balding hair, making tested products preferred for their lack of negative side effects.

    Proven Results

    • Among the hundreds of hair growth products available on the market today, few actually work in producing results from their use. Among these are Minoxidil, which goes by the name Rogaine and its generic forms, and Finasteride, which is sold under the names Proscar and Propecia. While results may vary, these two products have undergone rigorous testing and have proven to deliver on their claims.

    FDA Approved

    • To bear the stamp of "FDA approved" a product has to undergo rigorous testing. It may not be a surprise then, that Rogaine and Finasteride have been found to work on the growth of hair have been FDA approved through its extensive testing and studies. A product cannot claim to be FDA approved without actual approval. This means that those products found to be FDA approved are safe and beneficial when used as instructed.

    Insight from Experts

    • Along with those who have been "clinically proven" to work, be wary of products that use expert testimonials. Results vary greatly from product to product, and chances are the "expert" being used in the testimonial may have only had personal satisfactory results with the product. For a product to be clinically tested, it needs to be done thoroughly and on more than a few people; also, there are varying degrees of "tested."
