Humalog Insulin Side Effects
Humalog insulin is a medication used in the treatment of type I diabetes. The medication is usually given in conjunction with another long-lasting insulin and works by quickly lowering glucose levels in the user's blood. As is the case with most insulin medications, there are a number of side effects associated with use.

Common Side Effects

Some of the coomon side effects of using Humalog insulin include nausea, headache, hunger, drowsiness, confusion, blurred vision, irregular heartbeat, dizziness, tremors, weakness, trouble concentrating, seizures and general confusion. While these are considered the most common side effects associated with using Humalog insulin, they only affect a small number of users.
Severe Side Effects

Unfortunately, there are also a number of severe side effects associated with using this medication. Some of these side effects include an itchy skin rash covering the body, trouble breathing, wheezing, fast heart rate, sweating, light-headedness, low potassium levels in the blood, increased urination and increased thirst. These side effects are also rare and do not affect a large amount of users.

Always monitor your blood sugar to prevent it from going too low. Low blood sugar can be life-threatening in users, with symptoms including loss of appetite, increased thirst, increased urination, drowsiness, nausea, vomiting, drowsiness and dry mouth. Never share an injection pen or syringe with another user as it can pass on various infectious diseases, including HIV.

Always use Humalog insulin in direct compliance with your doctor's order and never in dosages larger than what has been recommended on the label. The medication is administered through injection and should be administered in different parts of the body each time. Humalog is a fast-acting insulin and should be taken either 15 minutes before or after eating a meal. Only self-inject insulin if you are familiar with the guidelines on how to do so safely.
