Scene Haircuts & Emo Haircuts for Girls

The scene and emo hair cuts are very similar but have a few main differences. Scene hair can be very shaggy and sleek or have lots of volume. It also seems to be a little more defined than the emo styles, which are generally asymmetrical, disheveled and choppy. Does this Spark an idea?

  1. Bangs

    • The bangs are a major defining characteristic for both scene and emo hair cuts. Both styles have thick bangs that hang down in front of the face, either straight across the forehead or swept sharply to one side to create angled fringe. Scene haircuts usually have very thick side-angled bangs and even straight bangs along the forehead with a slight angle. Bangs for emo haircuts usually have jagged and uneven ends, whether they are swept to the side or run straight along the forehead.

    Layers And Lengths

    • Scene and emo hair cuts can be any length, from short and choppy bobs and pixie cuts to medium and very long hair. No matter how long or short your hair is it can be adapted into a scene or emo cut. Scene girls sometimes have a very long layer of hair on the bottom, which can be easily achieved with clip in hair extensions that you can apply at home. The layers at the top of a scene girl's hair are very short and gradual, making the hair very voluminous. Emo hair sometimes has longer layers in the front that get shorter as it goes back.

    Styling

    • Signature scene hair is styled by teasing or "back combing" at the top and spraying it with hairspray to create a very big and high hairstyle. A flat iron is used to get the hair straight before any teasing is done. The style is very voluminous at the top and tapers down at the ends where it is usually very flat and straight. Emo hair can be flat or have volume but it always has layers and is either shaggy or asymmetrical.

    Cutting It Yourself

    • Many girls who consider themselves to be a part of the emo or scene subcultures cut their own hair at home with tools that a professional hairdresser wouldn't use, such a s shaving razor to thin ends. If you're going to thin or touch up your scene or emo hair cut, you should either use a pair of thinning shears that are made for this purpose or a hair razor that you can purchase at a beauty supply store. If you've never thinned your hair before you should use the thinning shears because they are easier to use and are safer.

    Hair Care

    • Even though many of the scene and emo hairstyles call for disheveled hair, making it look this way can be very hard on your hair and can damage your hair. Deep condition your hair once a week and apply a heat protecting product to it before you straighten it. All of the processes of these styles can damage your hair. You should give your hair frequent breaks from these techniques before it becomes unmanageable.
