Types of Italian Clothes
The Italians are known as stylish people who take tremendous pride in their appearance. Many of the world's best fashion designers come from Italy. In fact, according to the Life in Italy.com website, America's Hollywood community has continued to honor Italian fashion, as many of the stars strutting down the red carpet are dressed in Italian-made clothes and jewelry. For Italians, fashion means more than just stylish clothes but an attitude of sophistication and the importance of outward appearances over comfort.

Women's Skirts
-
The A-line skirt is a basic skirt commonly worn by Italian women that has several variations. Although the skirt doesn't cling to the body, it fits snug at the waist and is wider at the hips, while kissing the thighs and hips. A-line skirts look especially good on pear-shaped women, as the style balances out heavier thighs and hips. Flared skirts look best on tall women with heavy hips. Front or side slits in flared skirts make for interesting and slimming details, as it divides the hips into vertical parts.
The Popularity of Denims
-
For years, denim jeans have remained a popular wardrobe staple for Italians. Although "new" denim jeans refer to what's trendy, "aged" jeans means they've undergone some sort of aging process and are considered good fabric. Besides jeans, denim jackets and skirts are popular.

Women's Shoes
-
Women dress for style rather than comfort, and this fact is especially seen in their shoes. Pointed toes and high heels in a shoe may be uncomfortable, but Italian women consider them as hot designs. Practicality in women's shoes isn't important, as they wear 4-inch heels on Italy's cobbled streets.
Men's Fashion
-
Italian tailors have a reputation for making well-cut suits. According to Life in Italy.com, to be stylish, men adhere to certain "do"s and "don't"s in the fashion world. For example, dark colors should go on top. Other "do"s include wearing raglan sleeves, pleated pants, pants with patch pockets and double-breasted jackets. Some fashion "don't"s include wearing skinny pants or jeans, as well as sleeveless t-shirts.
Fashion Colors
-
Italian women are known for wearing bright colors, especially in the summer, according to the Trip Advisor.com website. They wear everything from yellow, orange and red to gold bracelets. Italian men wear linen shirts that are usually white or off-white. They typically choose linen coffee-colored jackets and beige pants.
Warning
-
Women can send out the wrong message to men if they wear very short skirts. Sneakers are reserved for playing sports and aren't worn to restaurants; instead, comfortable leather shoes are more acceptable. Older Italians usually don't wear shorts in the city. Also, it's inappropriate to dress too revealingly at religious functions.
