Girls' Shaggy Hairstyles
A shaggy hairstyle is flattering if you have a round face, and you may also consider getting a "shag" style if your hair is on the thick or curly side because it will help your hair lay flat and cuts down on styling time. Shaggy cuts are very versatile and look good on many hair types, from wavy to straight. Does this Spark an idea?

Short Shag
-
Short, shaggy bob or pixie cuts are good if you don't have a lot of time in the morning to style your hair. All you need to do is brush your hair or shake it out or take a shower and let it air dry. If you want to style it, you can spike it with product or gel it and pin it back with a decorative barrette.
Medium Length Shag
-
If you like being able to pull your hair back off of your neck into a ponytail, consider a medium or longer length shag with less layers. The more layers you have, the shaggier your hair will be, but it will also be harder to put it up. Even though these cuts are longer, they will still be fairly easy for you to manage and will require less styling time than other cuts.

Long And Shaggy
-
The long and shaggy look has extreme layers that are very short on the top, taper down and flatten out to a very long layer on the bottom. It is very shaggy and voluminous at the top. There is also a more toned down version of the long shaggy hairstyle if you don't want a look that's quite so trendy.
Mullet
-
The mullet is a very edgy look and you should be careful when considering getting a mullet. This is a risky cut and you could turn out looking dated or it could be very unflattering to your face. The mullet essentially starts out as a pixie cut at the top-- no more than two-to-three inches long--and end very long at the bottom. A modern twist on this style is to tease the top so it sticks up.
Styling
-
Even though the shaggy hairstyles don't require much styling to look good, there are a few techniques that are well suited to a shag cut. Tease the shorter top layers to give your hair a bump in the back or on the top front. This bump doesn't always need to be nice and neat. Add hairspray or a few bobby pins to hold your bump in place. A shag looks great with soft waves or straight, but tight curls should be avoided.
