Features
-
Mederma Skin Care for Scars for Kids (Mederma for Kids) is a non-toxic product. It contains Cepalin, an onion extract, which helps to smooth scars. This greaseless topical gel goes on purple and dries clear as it is massaged into the scar. The gel has a child-friendly scent and is non-staining. Mederma for Kids is the most highly pediatrician-recommended product for kids' scars.
Function
-
Scars in children can be caused by accidents such as cuts, scrapes, burns, bug bites and surgeries. Most scars cannot be completely removed, but their appearance can be significantly improved. Drastic measures, such as surgery or steroid injections, can be taken to make scars less noticeable, but they can be costly and painful. Applying Mederma for Kids can reduce the visibility of the scar by improving the color, texture and softness of the scar. It can be used on kids ages two and older to smooth the appearance of your child's scar, as well as to reduce redness.

Time Frame

Once your child's wound has completely healed, or after stitches have been removed, start using Mederma for Kids. For older scars, start using Mederma for Kids immediately. Coat the scar with a thin layer of Mederma for Kids and massage it in three times per day. For new scars, use for 8 weeks. Older scars should be treated for three to six months.
