Cyclomen is a brand name of the danazol prescription drug. This drug is used to treat pain or infertility resulting from endometriosis. Fibrocystic breast disease is also treated with this medication. This drug is used by sufferers of hereditary angioedema, which causes swelling of various parts of the body. Gynecomastia, menorrhagia and female precocious puberty have also been treated with this medicine. This medicine is available in capsules and may cause some side effects.

  1. Skin and Related Effects

    • Skin related side effects have developed in some users of Cyclomen. According to the Mayo Clinic, some people have noticed acne breakouts while they used this drug. Increased oiliness of the skin and hair has been reported. The lower legs and feet have become swollen in some cases. Flushing or redness of the skin has occurred. The skin can become increasingly sensitive to sunlight. Nipple discharge, hives and skin rash also have been reported.

    Gastrointestinal and Related Effects

    • Some users of Cyclomen have encountered gastrointestinal side effects. According to the Mayo Clinic, some individuals developed pain, bloating or tenderness of the stomach during treatment with this drug. Diarrhea was reported in some cases. Nausea has developed in some people. Some individuals vomited during treatment. Light colored stools have been reported. Some users rapidly gained weight. Dark colored urine and bloody urine has occurred.

    Nervous System Related Effects

    • Some nervous system related side effects have occurred with Cyclomen patients. According to the Mayo Clinic, some users have complained of mood changes and mental changes while they were on this medication. Unusual nervousness has been reported. Vision changes and eye pain have occurred. Numbness or weakness on one side of a patient's body is possible with this drug. Difficulty speaking, headaches and restlessness have been reported.

    Female Only Effects

    • Some of the side effects of Cyclomen have only been reported by female patients. According to the Mayo Clinic, some users have observed a decrease in breast size while they took this drug. Irregular menstrual periods have been reported. Some women had unexplained weight gain. Vaginal burning, drying and itching has occurred. Vaginal bleeding and an enlarged clitoris have been reported. Some women experienced unnatural hair growth and a deepening of the voice.

    Other Effects

    • Some individual users of Cyclomen have reported other side effects. According to the Mayo Clinic, some patients have noticed muscle cramps or muscle spasms while they were on this drug. Bleeding gums, chills and coughing have been reported. Fever, chest pain and fast heartbeats have occurred. Some patients lost muscle coordination, experienced joint pain and had unusual sweating. Some men had changes in their semen and a decrease in the size of their testicles.
