Minnesota is, for the most part, a moderately priced state in which to live. While the weather does get very cold in the winter and snow is rather prevalent, the state is known for very nice people and a variety of moderately priced towns. If you're looking for a really low cost of living, you need look no further than Beardsley, Minnesota.

    Population

  1. Beardsley is a tiny town with a population of about 230. The median age is around 44 as compared with state's median age of 35. The town is 99 percent white and 1 percent Hispanic.

  3. It's a very middle-class community with a median household income of around $33,000 in a state where the median income is around $55,000. About 12 percent of the people are below the poverty line.
  4. Location

  5. Beardsley is in a very desolate area of the state. It's nearly 230 miles west of St. Paul, Minnesota. It's situated very close to the South Dakota state line as well as Big Stone Lake State Park. It's in the middle of the true Midwest, with miles and miles of wide-open prairie spaces.
  6. Climate

  7. Beardsley is one of the hottest parts of the state. The prairie region in which Beardsley is located can reach temperatures of between 70 and 80 degrees in the summer. The area can fall victim to drought as well. The elevation is 1,096 feet.
  8. Home Prices

  9. The cost of homes in Beardsley is very inexpensive. The mean price of a detached house is around $42,000 and the mean price for a condo or other attached unit is less than $12,000.
