The Quinceanera is a time of celebration, ceremony, family and friends for a Latin teenage girl's 15th birthday, it is considered her passage into adulthood. To some girls, the fashion opportunities for the event surpasses the excitement of the day itself. Quinceanera girls select gowns, shoes and jewelry for their special day. They've already got one accessory, though--their hair. With the variety of colors and lengths of hair that are popular for girls at this age, hairstyles for short hair or long are plentiful.

    Gentle Waves

  1. On dry hair, separate hair into sections with a rat tail comb, leaving one section of hair loose at the nape of your neck. Spray hair with a heat-protecting hairspray. Grab a small amount of hair at the base of your neck and curl it with a 1 inch barrel curling iron. Smooth the hair by running the iron from root to tip, then curl it. Let the curl drop out of the iron and pin it into place. Repeat with the rest of your hair. Spray hairspray on the pinned curls and wait 30 minutes. Starting at the nape of your neck, unwind the curls from the pins, then brush hair softly. Comb hair into a wave and clip under each wave. Continue until all hair is pined, then spray with hairspray. After drying, remove the clips and pin hair with a barrette.
  2. Braided Romance

  3. On wet hair, apply a scrunching mousse, then let hair air dry. Part hair in the center and make two French braids. Secure braids with elastic. Apply a shine mist to your hair to smooth.
  4. Updo with Flowers

  5. On dry hair, separate the top section of your hair with a rat tail comb and pull it into a high ponytail, secure it, then spray with hairspray. Make a second ponytail below the first and secure it. Separate a small section from the base of the second ponytail and curl it with a 1 inch curling iron. Let the curl fall out of the curling iron and pin it with bobby pins, letting the end hang free. Repeat until the lower ponytail is completely curled and pinned. Repeat this process on the top ponytail, then pin in flowers.
  6. French Twist

  7. Curl dry hair with a 1 1/2 inch barrel curling iron. Pull the right side of your hair back and pin it to the back of your head with bobby pins. In bunches, take the rest of your unpinned hair and pin it to the right side, twisting each bunch. Pin each bunch. End the twist at the nape of your neck and secure with bobby pins. Let the rest of your hair fall into a ponytail, then spray your entire head with hairspray.
  8. Short Hair, No Cutting

  9. For a sleek bob, even if you have waist-length hair, follow these simple instructions. Select a shine serum created for your hair type and apply a dime-sized portion to dry hair. Pull the top half of your hair up and secure it with a clip. Take 2 inch sections of the rest of your hair and fold them up, securing with pins (depending on the thickness of your hair, use multiple pins). Continue for all of the bottom section of hair. Unclip the top part of your hair. If your hair is layered and falls just to the bottom of the clipped sections, smooth the hair and apply hairspray. If your hair is longer, roll the ends of the hair underneath the pinned bottom sections and secure with more pins. Spray hairspray to set.
