Information on Minnesota Fishing Cabins

Minnesota is said to be home to more then 10,000 lakes. In these lakes there are plenty of fish to be caught. Fishing opportunities are throughout the state, but are more common in the northern portion. Minnesota is home to numerous resorts that offer fishing cabins for rent. Whether it be on a lake, river or near a body of water there are unlimited possibilities.

  1. Geography

    • Minnesota's landscape changes from farmland in the south to dense forest in the north. These forests are mostly state-owned land, and contain thousands of under fished lakes. The most popular places to rent cabins are on Mille Lacs Lake, Leech Lake and the Red Lakes due to their size and fishing opportunities. Throughout the northern half of Minnesota there is a wealth of cabin rental opportunities.

    Types

    • Fishing cabins are usually classified by whether or not housekeeping is provided. Housekeeping often entails daily cleaning and changing of towels. Visitors who choose nonhousekeeping cabins usually must bring their own towels and linens. Many resorts in Minnesota only offer housekeeping packages to ensure the cleanliness of the cabin.

    Size

    • Fishing cabins sizes range from one bedroom to large bunkhouses that will accommodate large parties. Resorts will often have a combination of bedroom packages to suit a variety of needs. Most common are those with either two or three bedrooms and one bath. Units tend to have small bedrooms and bathrooms and average-size living rooms. Higher end resorts offer larger cabins with more amenities. Researching online is a good way to choose a rental cabin. Almost all resorts will have a webpage or description on another website that will show pictures and rental rates.

    Features

    • Cabin rental often includes all cooking and kitchen utensils, and gas or charcoal grills. Check with the resort or renter to see which extras come with the cabin. It's often possible to book a package that includes a fishing boat with motor along with the cabin.

    Considerations

    • Minnesota has so many lakes that it can be hard to decide on an area to fish. There is a wealth of information online about Minnesota fishing and cabin rentals. Visitors usually decide how far they want to travel, and then search a local area online for rental cabins.
