C.E.T. Toothpaste for Dogs
C.E.T. toothpaste is a specially formulated toothpaste for dogs. It has several flavors that most dogs enjoy, including beef, malt, poultry, vanilla and seafood. Veterinarians recommend brushing a dog's teeth as often as you do your own, which should be at least once a day.

Why C.E.T.?
-
Never give toothpaste made for humans to a dog. It has ingredients that are toxic to dogs and they will swallow anything put in their mouth, especially if it is sweet like toothpaste. C.E.T. is edible and safe for dogs to swallow and it has enzymes that control plaque.
Proper Toothbrush
-
To use C.E.T. properly, you will need a toothbrush with an angled head and extra-soft bristles. There are toothbrushes made specifically for dogs that you can buy at a pet supply store. You could also use the toothbrushes that are designed to fit over your finger for smaller dogs (under 30 pounds).

Getting Adjusted
-
Before you start brushing your dog's teeth, let him get used to the idea first. Start with letting him sample the toothpaste. If he doesn't like the flavor, try a different flavor. Wipe the outside of his teeth with your finger with C.E.T. on it. Do this practice at the times you will be brushing the dog's teeth for a couple of weeks.
Phase In Toothbrush
-
Start brushing with the toothbrush soaked in warm water. Work the C.E.T. toothpaste into the bristles instead of letting it rest on top so the dog won't be able to lick it off so easily and swallow it before you brush his teeth. When starting to brush, place the bristles on the gum line at a 45-degree angle. Brush three or four teeth at a time and brush them in a circular motion before going to another section. Do at least 10 strokes on each section.
Buying C.E.T.
-
C.E.T. toothpaste can be found in most pet supply stores or pet supply websites. Your veterinarian may also have it available for purchase. It will usually cost between $5 and $10 for a small tube.
