Eurax treats a scabies infection in the human body. Scabies are an infestation of mites, which burrow under the skin causing an itchy rash. Eurax is a topical medication that kills the mites and stops the itching associated with their presence. Itchy skin not associated with scabies may also benefit from Eurax because of its soothing effect on irritated skin.

    Availability

  1. Eurax comes in tubes of cream and bottles of lotion. The medication is available by prescription only.
  2. Administration

For treating scabies, apply before bed. Begin by taking a shower to cleanse the skin, and pat body dry with a towel. Apply a thin layer of Eurax to the entire body. Include the area under the fingernails in the application, and pay special attention to skin folds. Trim fingernails before applying the Eurax, if necessary. Dress in loose, comfortable clothing to sleep. In the morning, wash all towels, clothing and bed linens in hot water. Follow the same routine for the second night and following morning, except for showering. Do not wash the medicine off the body until after 48 hours from the first dose. After two applications and 48 hours, completely wash off the Eurax. To prevent re-infestation, treat all family members, even if no symptoms appear.
  4. Side Effects
