For treating itchy skin, apply as directed by the physician to rash.
For treating scabies, apply before bed. Begin by taking a shower to cleanse the skin, and pat body dry with a towel. Apply a thin layer of Eurax to the entire body. Include the area under the fingernails in the application, and pay special attention to skin folds. Trim fingernails before applying the Eurax, if necessary. Dress in loose, comfortable clothing to sleep. In the morning, wash all towels, clothing and bed linens in hot water. Follow the same routine for the second night and following morning, except for showering. Do not wash the medicine off the body until after 48 hours from the first dose. After two applications and 48 hours, completely wash off the Eurax. To prevent re-infestation, treat all family members, even if no symptoms appear. - The most common side effects include skin reactions, such as itching and rash. Some individuals may experience an allergy to the medicine. If hives, swelling of the face or airway or shortness of breath develop, wash off the medication and seek immediate medical assistance. Report any burning, redness or otherwise irritated skin to your physician.
- Before using Eurax, report any additional medical conditions or allergies to your doctor. Use this medicine only when necessary if pregnant or breastfeeding. Eurax is for topical use only; do not drink the medication. Avoid using Eurax on the face, head or mucous membranes. If accidental contact occurs, flush the area thoroughly with water. Wash all linens and clothing to prevent re-infestation.
- There are no known drug interactions associated with Eurax. Notify your doctor and pharmacist of all other medicines, including over-the-counter and herbal products.
