Aventurine Rock Facts

Aventurine brings financial success and prosperity into your life. A general good luck stone, aventurine has been used in games of chance to provide that extra edge to win success and fortune. Aventurine also has many other benefits, including providing emotional well-being, reducing stress and tension, and helping you recognize alternatives and possibilities to get past life's stressful roadblocks.

  1. Features

    • Aventurine has a trigonal crystal structure, meaning it "radiates energy and is invigorating and protective, rebalancing the biomagnetic sheath," states Judy Hall in her book Encyclopedia of Crystals. It is made of silicon dioxide and has a hardness of 6.5 on the Mohs scale. Based on the impurities that existed when aventurine formed, there are a variety of colors available. The main sources of aventurine include Italy, Brazil, China, India, Russia, Tibet, U.S., Japan and Nepal. Aventurine is August's birthstone.

    History

    • Used for conceiving a child or birthing a new idea or project, aventurine has been a fertility charm for hundreds of years. Adventurine is named after the famous adventurine Venetian glass, which it resembles. In Italian, "per avventura" means "by chance," an allusion to the happy accident---copper filings fell into a vat of molten glass---through which adventurine glass acquired its signature sparkle. Aventurine has been used for centuries in candelabras, pipes, vases and bowls, and other ornamental objects. In Hermitage, an art museum in St. Petersburg, Russia, there is an ancient aventurine vase on display.

    Benefits

    • Aventurine is used for success in goals involving wealth and prosperity, protection, stability, strength, endurance, and independence. It further assists in giving up fears that hold you back from achieving your dreams. If you feel depressed or lethargic, aventurine will help you heal emotional trauma and emotional wounds. Although there is no scientific evidence to prove this, Hall claims in her book that aventurine can help to lower cholesterol and blood pressure, relieve allergies and migraines, strengthen the heart and lungs, prevent arteriosclerosis, and calm the nervous system.

    Types

    • Aventurine comes in a variety of colors including green, red, blue, peach and brown. According to the Encyclopedia of Crystals, green aventurine brings a sense of calm and well-being to the wearer, and strengthens eyesight. Red aventurine improves genital and reproductive diseases. Blue aventurine supports male energy and heals mental illness, while peach aventurine encourages creativity and well-being and reduces anxiety. Brown aventurine, which contains goethite, aids successful communication in negotiations and helps relax muscular tension.

    Methods

    • Placing aventurine strategically in your home or garden will protect you from geopathic stress that is caused by underground water and fault lines. According to Encyclopedia of Crystals, wearing this stone will protect you from environmental pollution, including smog, and from the drain on your body's healing energy. Sleeping with aventurine under your pillow will manifest its many benefits. According to Gemstone Magic, you will receive money and good luck by holding aventurine in both hands while visualizing prosperity.
