  1. Types of Oranges

    • There are many varieties of oranges. Most oranges are peeled before eating, although the orange peel on some oranges can be eaten raw. Orange peel can also be made into a candy or used as a flavoring in baking. The most popular varieties or oranges include the clementine, kumquat, mandarin, minneola, navel orange, Valencia orange, blood orange, tangelo, satsuma, tangerine and ugli.

    Cleaner

    • Orange-based cleaning products are abundant in today's market. These products often offer safer, more environmentally friendly, options to traditional cleaners. Orange cleaners have a fresh clean fragrance that makes the entire house smell like an orange orchard. Orange cleaners are also good for keeping wood moist and beautiful. Orange-Glo and Citrus Magic both offer orange cleaning products.

    Fire Ant Repellent

    • Orange oil and orange peel extract are key ingredients in some fire ant repellents. Many people who live in southern states fight fire ants on a daily basis. Orange oil has proven itself as an effective remedy for controlling the fire ant population. These natural pesticides are environmentally friendly, as well as pet friendly and non toxic.     Fragrance

    • Potpourri, according to the Encarta English dictionary, is a collection of fragrant dried flowers. It can also be a mixture of petals, leaves, herbs, spices and fruits. Oranges, orange peels and sliced oranges are often key ingredients in potpourri. Oranges are often mixed with anise and mace to make a "spicy" potpourri. This fragrance is often a holiday favorite around Halloween and Thanksgiving. Oranges are also used in some perfumes. Orange oil is long-lasting and fragrant.     Aromatherapy

    • Aromatherapy is a medicinal treatment that uses the oils extracted from plants to ease physical and psychological disorders. This is accomplished with the use of scented oil in massage or through the inhalation of essential oils. Orange oil used as a sedative can treat anxiety and depression. This oil can also encourage digestive function. It is an effective treatment for constipation and mouth ulcers.
