Can You Download Videos From YouTube to an iPod Touch?
The iPod Touch can hold many videos, but they must first be transferred to it from a computer. Downloading videos directly would be nice, but it cannot be done with the iPod Touch as it normally is. But by jailbreaking the iPod Touch, downloading videos directly to it from YouTube becomes possible. The process is fairly straightforward and the Touch can always be returned to the state it was in before the jailbreaking was done.

Jailbreak the iPod Touch to be able to modify what it can do. The process for doing this is fairly straightforward and there are many online sources that will guide you through the process (see link in Resources). Be sure to back up the files on the iPod Touch first by using the iTunes software program for safety's sake.
Using the Installer App

Download the Installer app to the iPod Touch by using iTunes (see link in Resources). Once the Installer.app has been downloaded and is on the iPod Touch, open it and add "Sleepers.net/phonerepo" to the list of resources.

Installing MxTube

Go to the MxTube website on the iPod Touch. Download and install MxTube from the Multimedia section (see the link in Resources).
Using MxTube

Run the MxTube app. Use the search window to search for videos you would like to download in the same manner as you would search for videos to watch using the YouTube app. When information on the video that you want to download has appeared in the MxTube's window, click the video to be downloaded. Select the quality of the video from the pop-up menu that has now appeared. Wait as the video is downloaded. Once the download has been completed, the video will be found under the Videos tab section. Select and watch the video.
Tips for Use

Do not quit the MxTube app while the videos are in the process of downloading.
Only quit the app after the videos have completely downloaded.Make sure there is enough memory to hold the video that is being downloaded.
All the videos should be deleted prior to uninstalling the MxTube app.
Warning

Modifying or "jailbreaking" a Touch, while not illegal, is not supported by Apple. It can cause problems with the iPod Touch or even delete the programs and files from its memory altogether. For this reason, jailbreaking a Touch should not be taken lightly.
Software updates by Apple can also wipe out all the jailbreaking and files that have been put on the iPod Touch. This can require the iPod Touch to be jailbroken all over, and all the files put back on it from scratch.
