History
-
The Pella Corporation was founded in 1926 after a couple from Pella, Iowa became the owners of an exiting company that manufactured screens for windows. The Kuypers expanded the exiting company, adding a line of blinds within 10 years of taking over the company. As the years progressed, Pella began manufacturing various types of doors and windows including the first ever pane-divided window that allowed for ease of washing. Today the company employs thousands of people in several different locations.
The Andersen Window and Door Company was founded in 1903 in Hudson, Wisconsin. Today Andersen manufactures upwards of six million windows and doors each year. Andersen was the first company to offer a full window unit that included the frame and hardware along with the sash. Andersen also pioneered windows with insulated glass to cut down on the accumulation of condensation between panels.
Types of Andersen Windows
-
Andersen makes seven different types of windows. Among their selections are awning windows, double-hung windows, picture windows, bay windows and specialty shaped windows. In terms of replacement windows, Andersen offers the Woodright double-hung replacement and double-hung full-frame windows. Andersen windows are designed in a manner that allows contractors and do-it-yourselfers to easily install them. Those who choose Andersen can find valuable information regarding installation methods and replacement parts on the company's home page.

Types of Pella Windows
-
In addition to their wide array of doors, Pella offers eight different types of window options. These include awning windows, bow windows and popular garden windows. The majority of Pella windows come in wood, fiberglass or vinyl frame. Pella windows are considered to be the most energy efficient windows available, and the company is committed to quality windows that aid in reducing heating and cooling costs through green manufacturing.
Warranties
-
Andersen windows are covered regardless of who owns the home or business. The warranty is fully transferable between owners and covers nearly every part of the product. Andersen warranties include 20 years on the glass and 10 years on nonglass parts. Pella windows offer two different types of warranties. Unlike the Andersen window company, only certain window lines are included in the lifetime warranty transfer program. Windows are covered for either 10 or 20 years.
Tax Credit
-
Both Andersen and Pella are part of the tax credit program that allows homeowners the chance to receive a $1,500 credit on their income tax return. Only certain windows are eligible for the program. Additional information regarding the windows and doors that qualify, restrictions and how to take advantage of the offer can be found on the company websites.
