Gift package bows are the finishing touch on a beautifully decorated gift. These bows can range from large, elaborate and embellished decorations to small and simple additions to the gift's wrapping. Distinct bows on each of your gifts can make the outside of your presents as charming as the inside.

    Pre-Made Bows

  1. Pre-made gift package bows are one of the more common varieties of gift bows. While the pre-made star bow is a classic for easy gift wrap decor, there are several other varieties of pre-made bows that can dress up your packages. These bows are available with a cascade of curled ribbon or an explosion of colorful metallic material. Pre-made bows typically come with adhesive backing for easy peel-and-stick application.
  2. Handmade bows

  3. Handmade gift package bows allow for a more personal touch in the presentation of the gift. A basic bow made in the same manner with which you tie your shoes is a simple and classic option. Many easy online tutorials are available for more elaborate bows as well. To make your own professional-looking pom-pom bow, wrap a thick piece of ribbon around in several overlapping loops. Tie the loop of ribbon in the center with a thin piece of string, then fan out each piece of ribbon from its place in the center.
  4. Embellished Bows

  5. Any bow become a decorative masterpiece with a few creative embellishments. If you regularly put together crafts, you may have all of your embellishments on hand. Embellished gift package bows are those with a little something extra tucked into the ribbon. This might be a bit of greenery, silk flowers, or small plastic berries. A sprig of baby's breath tucked into the bow will give it a more decorative look in no time. Some embellishments can even double as gifts, such as Christmas tree ornaments or candy canes.
  6. Materials

  7. The materials for gift package bows don't need to be confined to plain ribbons. A visit to a local craft store will yield nearly endless options for gift bow materials. In the ribbon department you will find ribbons of all widths, sizes, materials, and colors. Many ribbons have wire in the edges, making them easier to arrange into elaborate positions. Twine and raffia are other materials that make excellent gift bows. These give a more natural and homey look to the wrapping. Raffia can even be colored or pearlized. Pipe cleaners can be used to make gift bows as well. These are easy to pose and work especially well on children's gifts.
  8. Placement

  9. After creating the perfect gift package bow, you have several options for the bow's placement. One beautiful bow in the center of the package is always a classic option, but there are many other ways to use gift package bows. Your bow can be stuck to a gift bag for added flair, or perched atop a stocking on Christmas morning. If you have several gifts that fit within one central theme, you may want to tie them together with ribbon, placing a bow on top. There's no need to limit each package to one bow, either. Small, simple bows can be placed on the box in pairs.
