-
Information Technology
-
If you have an interest in developing computer software, repairing hardware, designing computers, offering support to computer users or anything else that has to do with computers, you might be suited for a career in information technology. A college degree is necessary to work in most of these jobs. These jobs include computer analysts, computer systems administrators, software developers, computer engineers and computer teachers.
Health Care
-
The health care industry is a fast-growing sector with many opportunities available to those who would like to take care of sick people in some manner. Opportunities are widespread, from being a doctor to being a certified nursing assistant (CNA). Likewise, the level of education needed depends on which career path in the health care industry is pursued. It can range from two years to ten years of post-secondary education. Jobs include: phlebotomists, cardiologists, dialysis technicians, registered nurses, hospital administrators and medical researchers.
-
Law
-
If you have an interest in serving others through the interpretation and/or administration of the law, a career in law may fit you. You need at least a four-year college degree, and many positions require a juris doctor (JD), which entails three additional years of schooling at an accredited law school after achieving your bachelor's degree. If you take the JD route, you need to pass the bar in the state you plan to practice in before you can practice law in that state. Jobs in legal services include being a lawyer, arbitration mediator, paralegal and law professor.
Business
-
There is always a need for business professionals in an industrialized nation such as the United States of America. Accountants, managers, entrepreneurs and salespeople are just a few of the opportunities available in the business world. The level of education needed depends on the position. It can range from no education to a college degree. If you like being a part of the distribution and/or marketing of goods and services, business is a good place to begin exploring career options.
Entrepreneurship
-
Starting your own business can be rewarding, but also challenging. You must be willing to work long hours doing menial tasks for a few years just to get the business off the ground. Business owners must be able to fall and get back up repeatedly in many areas of the startup. A person can technically start a business with no education, but it is wise to get at least a master of business administration (MBA) to get the necessary skills to make the business a profitable venture.
