Kinds of Mongoose Freestyle Bikes

Mongoose is a popular manufacturer of well-made, affordable BMX bikes. The company's large BMX lineup for 2010 includes five durable, quick freestyle bikes ranging in price from $239 to $419, depending on components. The higher-priced freestyle bikes include a chromoly steel frame and fork; other models feature a high-tension steel frame. All of Mongoose's freestyle bikes come with a set of axle pegs and a Pro Rush brake rotor.

  1. Diagram

    • The Diagram is Mongoose's flagship freestyle bike. The bike features a chromoly front triangle and fork steering tube. Components include Goliath double-wall rims, SNAFU Sanford tires, Tektro FX340 brakes, and Mongoose in-house stem, handlebar and seat post. The Diagram is available in a 20-inch frame size and features a steep 74.5-degree head tube angle for fast, tight cornering. The Diagram has a manufacturer's suggested retail price (MSRP) of $419.

    Article

    • The Article is another solid offering in Mongoose's freestyle lineup. The frame and fork are identical to that of the Diagram, with a slightly different parts lineup. Components include Mongoose Poly Carbon pedals, an Odyssey 12-tooth cogset, Innova tires and Mongoose cockpit components. The Article has an MSRP of $329.

    Capture

    • The Capture features a high-tension steel frame and fork. Standard components include a three-piece tubular chromoly crankset, sealed bearing bottom bracket, Odyssey 13-tooth cogset, KMC chain, and alloy rims. The brakes and brake levers are identical to those found on the higher-priced Diagram. The Capture's MSRP is $289.

    Subject

    • The Subject includes a high-tension steel frame and fork, similar to the Capture. Mongoose Resin pedals, a Loose Ball bottom bracket, one-piece crankset, steel hubs, steel spokes, and alloy rims are all included. The Subject uses a Rush SB900 Caliper front brake and SB933 alloy rear brake. As with all of Mongoose's freestyle bikes, the Subject includes Mongoose Kraton grips and a Mongoose Slim saddle. The Subject has an MSRP of $239.

    Pit Crew

    • The Pit Crew is another solid freestyle offering. The crankset is a three-piece tubular model, an upgrade from the Subject. The Pit Crew does not include a front brake; only a Rush Alloy U-brake comes standard on the rear of the bike. A sealed bearing bottom bracket, KMC chain, steel hubs and spokes, and high-quality Kenda tires are included on the Pit Crew. The bike has an MSRP of $249.
