Track & Field Scrapbook Ideas

Track and field sports have the distinction of being both team and individual sports. The sports are a wonderful opportunity to stay in shape while making friends. Creating a track and field scrapbook is a way to preserve not only athletic accomplishments, but also memories shared with friends.

  1. Pole Vault and High Jump

    • Create a pole vault setup by cutting out the different parts from colored card stock. Cut out two vertical bars, a cross bar, a pole vaulting pole and the mat. Attach the setup to your scrapbook page; a grass, solid-colored or patterned background will work best for this page. Write the subject's personal best vault height where the cross bar is. Attach pictures of the pole vaulter in action to the page--you can even cut out her body and pole from the pictures so that it looks like she is vaulting on the page.

For a high jump page, create the same setup as you would on a pole vaulting page, minus the pole, only make it a little shorter. Write a list of awards that she has won in the event on the page as well.

    Discus and Shot Put

    • Cut pictures of the subject of your track and field pages to look like the discus or shot put flying through the air at different distances, which should be ovals or circles, respectively, of different sizes. Attach them to a page with a grass theme. Write that person's personal best throw on the page, as well as a list of awards he has won in the event, on a discus or shot put that you cut out of paper.

    Long Jump

    • Long jump requires a stretch of track and a big sand pit. Cut out pictures of the subject in the process of making a long jump, from running down the track to leaping into the pit. Cut a strip of black paper to represent the track and use glue and sand to create the pit on a piece of scrapbooking paper, with a grass or track-and-field background. Glue the motion pictures along the track and over the pit to show the longer jumper in motion. Record her personal best jump by placing some kind of marker in the sand, and record the distance above that. You can also write a list of awards she has won in the event.

    Track

    • Use track-themed scrapbooking paper to attach your photos to; you can find examples of these pages at the link in the "Resources" section. Write the events in which the subject ran, his personal best times and any awards he won in his running events. You can write personal best times in a stop watch die cut for extra flare. Use embellishments that fit into the running theme like tennis shoes, trophies and motivational word stickers.

    All Track and Field Scrapbooks

    • Create pages that show pictures of the subject practicing and hanging out with the team, as well as pictures of her competing. Participating in track and field isn't just about the competition, it is also about hanging out with friends on the team. Don't forget the coach--a crucial part of any sport and, therefore, an important part of an athlete's life. Include pictures of the coach giving pep talks to the team and to the subject of the scrapbook, and just walking around being a coach.
