BellySock vs. BellaBand

BellaBand and the BellySock are both knit maternity tubes designed to help pregnant moms-to-be wear their normal clothes longer into their pregnancy. To put them on, you step into them, slip them over your hips and adjust them over your belly. You can fold either of them in half and wear them under your belly for more support as your belly grows during pregnancy. They are also useful for women post-pregnancy bellies that are getting back into shape. Both are made with a mixture of materials for optimum strength and stretch, so the bands can help hold up un-buttoned and un-zipped pre-pregnancy clothes. You can find BellaBands and BellySocks at most maternity stores.

  1. Fabric Content of BellaBand

    • The BellaBand is built to stretch comfortably over pre-maternity clothes. Most women want to wear their normal clothes as long as they can before switching to larger maternity clothing. With a combination of 84 percent nylon and 16 percent spandex, this strong band is built to fit over jeans, shorts or skirts.

    Fabric Content of BellySock

    • The flexible BellySock is made with 95 percent cotton and 5 percent spandex. The cotton is for a soft feel and the spandex gives the sock the snap and stretch needed to fit over a pregnant belly.

    Fabric Care of BellaBand

    • Machine wash your BellaBand in warm water with gentle soap. Wash with like colors and dry on a low temperature to keep the spandex flexible. Bleach with color-safe bleach. Never iron your BellaBand.

    Fabric Care for BellySock

    • Wash your BellySock in warm water with like colors. Use only a color-safe bleach and dry on a low heat. You can also lay it flat to dry. Do not iron the BellySock, because there is spandex in the material.

    Sizing for BellaBand

    • Choose sizes according to BellaBand's recommendations. Sizes 0 to 8 before pregnancy should pick a size 1 BellaBand. A pre-pregnancy size 10 to 14 should pick size 2. Pick size 3 if you were a size 16 to 20 before pregnancy and a size 4 if you were a size 22 or larger.
If you are between sizes, select the fit you prefer. If you prefer a snug fit, choose one size smaller. If you want a looser fit, choose one size larger.

    Sizing for BellySock

    • Determine what size BellySock you need by using your pre-pregnancy size to correspond to the BellySock size. Buy an extra small if you were a size 0 to 2 before you got pregnant. Get a small if you were a 2 or 4, or a medium if you were a size 6 to 8. Purchase a large if you wore a size 10 to 12 or an extra large is you wore a 14 to 18 before pregnancy. Plus sizes, 20 to 22 should use a 2x size and a size 24 to 28 should order a 3x.

    Organic Items

    • Both BellySock and the BellaBand offer organic versions. Many mothers prefer to have organic material against their skin because they prefer to have only natural products against their skin while they are pregnant.
