Plastic material dumped in the ocean also contributes to poor health and even death for creatures living in the ocean.

Recycling just one glass bottle will enable a 100-watt light bulb to work for three to four hours. Unfortunately, a large majority of the 41 billion glass containers manufactured each year are thrown away, which contributes to air and water pollution. Did you know that a single glass bottle will take 4,000 years to completely decompose in the natural environment? Similar to aluminum, glass can be recycled an unlimited number of times, making it a very simple and easy way to help conserve materials.

Automobiles obviously contribute to environmental problems. While sometimes you cannot avoid driving, individuals who work, shop or go to school in the same town could save valuable resources and wear on the environment by riding a bike or walking each day. If you do travel by vehicle, simply reducing your speed from 65 mph to 55 mph will increase your fuel efficiency by 15 percent. Cut it from 70 mph to 55 mph, and you could get up to 23 percent more fuel efficiency. Keeping the tires fully inflated will also increase fuel efficiency.
