Oracea is a tetracycline antibiotic used in the treatment of pimple-like blemishes and rashes in adults. The drug works by reducing various types of skin inflammations caused by rosacea and has also been used in the treatment of mild to severe infections. Important Safety Information
-
Do not use Oracea if you are pregnant or breast feeding as it can cause harm to the new or unborn baby. This medication can also make birth control pills less effective, so please consult with your physician if both types of medications become part of your daily routine. Do not use Oracea if you are allergic to doxycycline as a severe allergic reaction can cause serious harm and possible death. Be sure to throw away excess medication when it expires or it is no longer needed.
Usage
-
Always take Oracea exactly as it was prescribed to you by your doctor and never take the medication in doses larger than the label indicates. Doctors recommend taking the medication anywhere between one and two hours before eating a meal. Do not crush, break or chew the medication as it is meant to be swallowed whole. The medication works as a slow-release drug, so any other way of ingesting would cause too much of the medication to be released at one time.
Warning
-
If you experience any of the aforementioned side effects, please contact your doctor. If an overdose is expected, head directly to the closest emergency room for immediate treatment. Finally, Oracea is meant in the treatment of skin legions only and should never be used as a recreation drug or for any other medical purposes.
