Word Find Games for Baby Showers
Baby shower games can be so "babyish" that some guests dread attending. Games that forbid crossing your legs or saying certain words like "baby" or "cute" inspire more eye rolls than enthusiastic participants. Retire the infantile baby shower traditions and graduate to word games that can be as challenging as you make them.

Preparation
-
These games require printing, so print games back-to-back to save paper and ink whenever possible. Consider buying paper to match the baby shower colors. For words and clues to use, interview the mother-to-be's family. Don't overuse word games. Choose two to three of the following.
Crossword Puzzle, Word Search, Word Scrabble
-
Create a crossword puzzle, word search or word scramble with baby-related words: use things the baby will need: bottles, diapers, blankets, etc.; things the baby does: cry, sleep, nurse, etc.; and words specific to the baby and mother-to-be: names, baby-room theme, birth month, hospital name, etc. The person with the most correct answers within a time frame wins. Choose only one of these options to keep game-time fun and fresh.

Words Out of Baby's Name
-
If the baby's name is already picked out, here's a challenging game to play. Pass out a piece of paper with the baby's first and middle names printed at the top. Ask guests to rearrange the letters in the baby's name to create new words. Give guests 10 to 15 minutes, depending on whether the baby has a short or a long name. The person who creates the most words wins. If there is a tie, the person with the most "big" words, such as five-letter words, wins the prize.
Quiz
-
Quiz guests on facts relating to the baby and mother-to-be. Make some questions easy so that everyone can get at least one or two answers right. Make some questions very challenging, so that only a select few will have a clue. Ask questions like, When is baby's due date? How do you spell baby's name? How much did mother-to-be weigh at birth? What was mother's first word? For a co-ed shower, include trivia about the father as well. If this is not the first baby for mom, ask questions about her previous pregnancy as well: How many hours was mom in labor? What day was first baby born?
Baby Shower Bingo
-
Make present time more entertaining by playing baby shower bingo. Create an empty bingo chart with five squares across and five squares down with a free space in the middle. Guests fill in each square with an item they think will be opened at the shower, such as "onesie," "bottles" or "blanket." As the mother-to-be opens presents, guests cross off their bingo squares. The first person to get five-in-a-row wins. Or, for a longer game, play blackout bingo: all the squares must be crossed off to win.
