Foods That Cause Weight Gain Around the Waist

There are many key elements that factor in weight gain around the stomach. Many people think the weight gain is from not exercising, which is not entirely true. Although exercising helps, weight loss is mainly influenced by what and how much you eat--70 percent of weight loss comes from food intake. There are foods that should not be eaten and others that should be substituted in your daily regime.

  1. Cut Out The Sugar

    • Cut out the sweets. Any type of ice cream, donuts or candy should be cut from your diet. If you do not burn the sugar, it will store as fat in your body and sugar is very hard to burn.

    Drink Water

    • Drink water at all times. Gatorade, fruit juices and even orange juice have unnecessary sugars. For most people, sugar goes straight to the waistline.

    Lighten Up On The Salt

    • Put less salt on your food. Salt holds fatty acids and liquids in your body longer, allowing your body to absorb the bad things it does not need.

    Avoid Fatty Beef

    • Eat lighter meats such as poultry and fish, which have less fat but about the same amount of protein as beef. Beef has fat on each layer that goes straight to the waistline.

    Watch Out For Enriched Wheat

    • Buy bread that is 100 percent whole wheat. Look at the ingredients on the back label, and make sure it does not say enriched wheat. This is white bread that stores as an unnecessary carb and enlarges your waistline.

    Portion Size

    • Eat smaller meals and avoid the foods listed above to shrink your waistline.
