History of Converse

Converse is located in Bexar County, roughly 15 miles northeast of San Antonio, Texas. The city is comprised mainly of people from German and Irish descent. It was named for Major Converse, the chief engineer of the Southern Pacific Railroad. Converse is considered a suburb of San Antonio. In 2000 the population had grown to 11,508 with 390 businesses.
