Advantages of a 35mm SLR Camera

Compact cameras limit the photographer to the amount of power available from the built-in flash. A hot shoe on the top of a 35mm SLR camera makes it easy to add a flash and increase the amount of light output. High-end flash units can cast enough light to illuminate a football player, in the evening, half way across the field.
